Hi, everybody! World Team Tennis announced their short 2011 season will run from July 4 through July 24, and that teams will announce their 2011 lineups for the upcoming season on February 15 through the WTT Marquee Player Draft. Our Anna was one of the marquee players for the St. Louis Aces last season, along with Lindsay Davenport.

Hi, everybody! St. Louis Aces selected our Anna in the second round of the 2011 WTT Marquee Draft today. Aces protected her draft rights to play in the 2011 WTT season. Mark Philipoussis and Lindsay Davenport will also return as Marquee Players for the Aces upcoming season besides Anna, as reported by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

MIDDLETON — The Boston Lobsters professional tennis team used its two selections during yesterday's World TeamTennis Marquee Player Draft to protect their rights to superstar players James Blake and John Isner.
Blake and Isner will each make one appearance at separate home matches this season. In addition, the Lobsters also secured visits from three of WTT's marquee players for matches at the Ferncroft Country Club this coming summer from Anna Kournikova, Melanie Oudin and Mark Philippoussis. "We've got a great array of personalities and styles for all the WTT fans and Lobster fans, and the competition is always close and great," Boston coach Bud Schultz said in a statement. "It's a great combination of the youth movement in American tennis in Melanie and John, and someone who has been a mainstay in American tennis in James Blake." "It gets better each year and we're going to build on our semifinal finish of last year," Schultz added. The dates of all marquee player appearances will be announced when the WTT releases the 2011 schedule in early March. Blake took the court twice for Boston in a home-and-home split with the New York Sportimes early in the 2010 season, and reached the quarterfinals of the If Stockholm Open in October. Isner faced off with the Springfield Lasers for the Lobsters last summer, just days after his historic victory over Nicolas Mahut of France at Wimbledon in which he prevailed, 6-4, 3-6, 6-7 (7), 7-6 (3), 70-68. The longest match in tennis history at eleven hours and five minutes, spanning three days, saw Isner set Wimbledon records for most games won (92) and aces (113). Kournikova and Philippoussis will appear separately at Ferncroft CC to play for the St. Louis Aces, whom the Lobsters are set to host twice this season. Rising teenage star Oudin will appear in Middleton for the Philadelphia Freedoms. "Mark is one of the more flamboyant characters on the tour in the last 20 years and someone who still has a great game," said Schultz. "I think it works perfect with the WTT atmosphere; he has a great personality and great presence and people will enjoy watching him." The Lobsters will finalize their 2011 team at the WTT Roster Player Draft on March 15. http://www.salemnews.com/sports/x108...nces-this-year

Hi, everybody! Looks like World Team Tennis arranged to have our Anna play at least four matches as one of the St. Louis Aces marquee players during the season in July. Anna will definitely play one home match with the Aces at Dwight Davis Tennis Center, and will also visit on the road at the Boston Lobsters, New York Sportimes, and the Washington Kastles.
Anna was given second round protection by the Aces during the earlier WTT Pro League Marquee Player Draft Selection with her Aces drafting in the fourth round. Amazing that the Aces as a team, with or without Anna, have yet to host the Kastles, Lobsters, and Sportimes, during the WTT regular season in St. Louis. Official 2011 schedule will be released by the WTT later this month. http://www.wtt.com/page.aspx?article_id=2417 |

Hi, everybody! It's possible Anna and St. Louis Aces could play at the Kastles new seasonal home court 'Kastles Stadium At The Wharf,' next to the Potomac River waterfront on the next visit to Washington D.C. in July. As reported by both the Washington Kastles WTT team, and the Washington Post. A news conference was held this morning and the Aces are scheduled to play the Kastles there during the upcoming season between July 5 through 24.

Hi, everybody! Our Anna is confirmed to play at least four WTT matches this July as one of the St. Louis Aces marquee players.
Anna will partner with Lindsay Davenport in two of the four matches. Anna and Lindsay may play together in womens doubles on the home match with the visiting Philadelphia Freedoms at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center on the Forest Park area of St. Louis on Saturday Night, July 9. Anna will play opposite her friend tennis partner Martina Hingis, as she, Lindsay and the rest of the Aces travel to New York City to play the New York Sportimes, at the Sportime Stadium at Randall Park on July 11. Anna will also be the Aces marquee player as the Aces play consecutive road matches with the Boston Lobsters again at the Ferncroft Country Club at Middleton, Massachusetts, north of Boston on Thursday night, July 14. Anna will conclude her WTT appearance as she is again the lone marquee player for the Aces, as the Aces travel southwest down the coast by train to visit and play the Washington Kastles on Friday, July 15, at the new Kastles Stadium At The Wharf next to the D.C. waterfront on Friday Night, July 15. Saturday, July 9 - Philadelphia @ St. Louis (Anna Kournikova/Lindsay Davenport) Monday, July 11 - St. Louis (Anna Kournikova/Lindsay Davenport) @ New York Sportimes (Martina Hingis) Thursday, July 14 - St. Louis (Anna Kournikova) @ Boston Friday, July 15 - St. Louis (Anna Kournikova) @ Washington http://www.wtt.com/page.aspx?article_id=2467 http://www.stlouisaces.com/teams/index.aspx http://www.stltoday.com/sports/other...b5f452369.html Last edited by Casmalia; 03-16-2011 at 12:14 PM. |

http://www.stlouisaces.com/teams/art...rticle_id=2605 Anna Kournikova to star on "The Biggest Loser" 5/25/2011 Anna Kournikova WTT update: Anna Kournikova was named as a trainer for the hit NBC television show "The Biggest Loser" on Tuesday evening. Due to her production schedule with the show, the St. Louis Aces star will not be able to play in the World TeamTennis Pro League this summer. "World TeamTennis has been such an amazing organization to work with for the last eight years and I have loved playing for the St. Louis Aces. I am disappointed that I won’t be able to compete in the WTT Pro League this summer, but am incredibly excited for the new adventure ahead,” said Kournikova. “I could not pass up the opportunity to use this amazing platform to be an advocate for health and fitness – a cause to which I have always been committed. I will remain an active supporter and look forward to doing whatever I can to continue to support Billie Jean King and the WTT League." "This is a great opportunity for Anna to help promote a healthy fitness lifestyle to a national audience, which is something we try to do every day with World TeamTennis," said Ilana Kloss, WTT CEO/Commissioner. "We are all very excited for her and wish her great luck. Anna has been a tremendous supporter of WTT for years. We plan to continue to work with Anna and will look for ways to keep her involved in WTT throughout the year." |
